About the event
Independent Opera Company presents Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Medium, a gripping one-act opera where deception, mystery, and the unexplained collide.
Madame Flora, known as Baba, makes her living conducting fraudulent séances for clients desperate to communicate with loved ones they have lost. With the help of her daughter Monica and the mute servant boy Toby, she creates convincing encounters with the spirit world—until one séance takes an unexpected turn and Baba experiences something she cannot explain.
What follows is a powerful psychological drama that blurs the boundaries between illusion and reality, fear and belief. With Menotti’s expressive music, memorable characters, and an intimate theatrical setting, The Medium offers an evening of opera filled with mystery, emotion, and suspense.
Join Independent Opera Company for two performances only: Friday, November 6 and Saturday, November 7 at 8:00 PM at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Nolte Hall in Los Angeles.
